課程概述 |
Course Design:
This course is designed as a basic oourse of social work
requirements. It concludes the discussion of concept
and practices of community work. The major content in this class includes
the followings:
1. What is community work, community organization, and
community development?
2. Community development and its relevant theories: social
system theory, social action theory, ecology theory...
3. Community work and its affecting factors: demographics
and environments, community values and culture ...
4. Community work and its dynamics : community changes,
community problems, and community development
5. Community developments : significance, principles, and
processes
6. Community development model A : Locality develpoment
Community intervention (1): needs assessment, analysis,
plnanning and organization
Community intervention (2): working with groups--setting
up and run groups
Community intervention (3): working with community groups--
dealing with practical issues and problems
7. Community development model B: Social planning
8. Community development model C: Social action
9. Generic and specialist community work
10. Radical community work
11. Community work and community care
12. Community work, state role and public policy

課程目標 |
Course Objectives:
This course is directed to assist students to achieve
objectives as follows:
1. To understand the concept and practice of community
work, community organization, and community development
2. To develop the working skills and methods applied in
community work and community organization
3. To understand the dynamics of community organization
and community development
4. To understand community development theories and its
application to community practices
5. To be sensitive to social justice implemented in
community organization and community work practice
6. To cultivate a sense of muticulturalism and prepare
anti-discriminary practice in diversified communities

Course Requirements:
All students taking this course are required to achieve
the following requirements:
1. Finishing Readings: writing essays (15%)
第一篇4/16繳交, 第二篇4/30日繳交
2. Participating Class: organizing yourself and discussing
issues and materials (5%)
3. Working on Projects: researching a case of community
development (40%)

4. Preparing and Finishing Final Examination: (40%)
